LDA Holds First Tech Park City Commercial Plot Auction on Ferozepur Road

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has taken the first concrete step towards its planned Tech Park City on Ferozepur Road, holding the first open auction of commercial plots in the project on 14 October 2026. The development, on around 119 kanals of LDA-owned land near Arfa Karim Tower, is meant to give Lahore a dedicated technology and commercial hub — the latest institutional push into the city’s IT economy.

The site has a long history. LDA bought the nearly 119-kanal parcel from the Model Town Cooperative Housing Society back in 1978 and later established the city’s fruit and vegetable market there. The market was shifted to Kahna in 2011, and the land has sat in search of a new use ever since — an earlier 2021 plan to hand the entire parcel to the Specialised Healthcare Department for a hospital fell through, as did a subsequent 2023 decision to allot 57 kanals of it free of cost.

Under the approved plan, roughly 50 kanals are earmarked for commercial plots, around 60 kanals will go to roads and parking, and the remainder is reserved for a public building and parks. Commercial plots are to be offered in 8-marla, 15-marla and 1-kanal sizes, with buildings of up to 72 feet (ground plus five floors) permitted, and up to 90 feet (ground plus six) in designated areas.

LDA expects to raise around Rs13.566 billion from the commercial plot auctions, plus an estimated Rs45 million from leasing sites for a petrol pump and a food outlet. Further plots are scheduled to be auctioned in 2027 and 2028. LDA’s Chief Town Planner told Dawn that internal market research found the land fit for IT and allied businesses, and the authority wants to equip it with state-of-the-art facilities including a dedicated parking plaza. Director (Auction) Ali Bin Sohail said the project would boost business activity in the IT sector.

What this means for CBD Punjab

Lahore is adding another institutional-grade supply of commercial land, this time with an IT-sector focus — a direct comparator for CBD Punjab’s own NSIT City and its commercial auction calendar. Investors watching auction pricing now have a fresh benchmark to set against CBD Punjab’s recent commercial sales. A second dedicated tech hub on Ferozepur Road also widens the choice for technology companies, which may intensify competition for occupiers — but it validates the thesis behind NSIT City itself: public land is increasingly being channelled into purpose-built technology districts, exactly the market CBD Punjab is building.
