US Delegation Briefed on Proposed Diplomatic Enclave at CBD Bab District

A United States delegation led by the US Consul General in Lahore, Stetson Sanders, has visited CBD Punjab and received a detailed briefing on the proposed Diplomatic Enclave at CBD Bab District, in the first on-the-record visit by American diplomats to the project.

The delegation, which included representatives from architecture, design and security teams, was welcomed by CBD Punjab Chief Operating Officer Brigadier (Retired) Mansoor Janjua. Director Architecture and Planning Sameer Aftab Sial briefed the visitors on the authority’s master plan, including the architectural vision and key features of CBD Quaid District and CBD Bab District, explaining how the districts are being planned to accommodate modern commercial requirements. Director Project Management Asif Iqbal briefed them on the infrastructure developed across CBD Punjab, noting its adherence to international standards.

The visit also included an on-site briefing at CBD Bab District, where officials walked the delegation through the proposed enclave site, its design considerations and the initial preparatory work under way. The enclave is envisioned as a dedicated diplomatic destination that would strengthen Punjab’s international standing and facilitate diplomatic engagement.

US Consul General Sanders praised the authority’s planning, describing CBD Punjab as a meticulously designed business district where all modern needs have been comprehensively addressed, and saying its integrated planning was aimed at developing a robust business ecosystem. In response, COO Janjua said CBD Punjab had been working for Punjab’s economic development since its inception, with a focus on modern infrastructure, new investment avenues and commercial activity, and a track record of delivering projects in record time. Director Land and Estate Mutahir Mehmood Awan, Director Legal Ahmed Armaghan and Deputy Director Land and Estate Sajid Hasnain were also present.

What this means for CBD Punjab: the visit is a visible diplomatic endorsement of the enclave project. Until now, public reporting on the Diplomatic Enclave has centred on design work and site preparation; a briefing for the US Consul General’s team puts the project in front of the diplomatic community it is ultimately meant to serve, and signals that the enclave is moving from paper plans towards real engagement with foreign missions. Readers should note what the reporting does not claim: no agreement, investment commitment or construction timeline for the enclave was announced during the visit, and the enclave remains a proposed project. Earlier reporting has put the proposed enclave at around 374 kanals.
